As a massage therapist over the years, I have clients that choose to share too little, or way too much with me. This begs the question of what is right amount of information to share in calls, the emails, text and sessions. They all have different boundaries, with different results. Yes, depending on these boundaries you could get a great massage therapist or lose one so this is very important to you as a client to walk that fine line, if it matters to you about getting the best massage of your life. In this blog, we will cover each area in as much detail as I can bring to this blonde mind as the year ends on 2017.
First and foremost, always read the massage therapist ads and website in complete before asking detailed question in calls, text or emails. We provide information in our ads and website to help screen out clients that we can’t help. This enables you to get to the point and not waste yours or the therapist time. We are a business not a social chat line, this is not to mean we, do not care about our clients but socializing on work time is frowned upon in any profession.
You have read everything now you still have questions or are not sure what was meant in the information. I cannot speak to all therapist but for myself I say it like it is. There is no hidden agenda in my ads or website. For example, if I do not say I offer a menu for upgrades then I do not have upgrades. As therapist, we are not desperate to find a date or sexual actives. Most of us have relationships that are very fulling and not part of our professional lives. As a professional we do not date our clients, this is not acceptable in any profession. Yes, I realize there is therapist out there that do offer these things but they are short lived shooting stars that are here just to make a quick buck and move on. As a professional I do not want clients entering my work space that would ask crude questions or send crude pictures. This being said I realize that some feel it is a waste of money to get an awesome massage without sexual favors. Then I suggest you look for a lady that sells sexual favors not a licensed professional massaged therapist. It cost a lot of money to get the license to do massage correctly. First, do not ask any professional if they offer any type of sexual favors.
Second, please do not send us pictures. We will see what you look like when you arrive. Beyond all question we don’t need to see your body parts naked in photo’s. We know what the human body looks like. For the most part everyone looks about the same for each sex. As a professional we will not send you pictures either. We have pictures posted on our ads and website for your viewing.
Third, if you have a medical condition that you are not sure if you can get a massage. Please ask the massage therapist ahead of time so that you can both be on the same page. If you have a disability let the therapist know so they can provide a comfortable setting for you that is convenient. If the therapist is unable to provide the correct environment they can let you know and not waste your time.
As a massage therapist during session, I am ok with any question as long as the client is okay with a no or that is too personal. I love talking with or listening to my clients work, family or personal issues. I am a neutral party that has no skin in the game and can let it go. I put each of my clients in a little box that what they say in until they return to my table. I do not think about my clients between sessions. It is not appropriate for clients to email, text or call just to chat about life between sessions. I do ask clients from time to time to update me on an issue that I may want to know about such as a new job, new baby, pets or family loss.
So, all of this being said remember to not say in text, email or phone call anything you would not say to your dentist, parent, pastor or law office. In session, you can feel free to share or ask questions at will as long as when the therapist says she is uncomfortable you stop that line of conversation and don’t just ask in another way. Relax and enjoy letting your muscles be restored.
